Tebuireng.online- Still in a series of independence remembrance events, the Santri World Network (JDS) in collaboration with Tebuireng Media Group (TMG) held a creative writing and journalistic workshop on Thursday to Friday, (August 21-22, 2025). This workshop was held in the Hall of KH. M. Yusuf Hasyim Floor 1, Pesantren Tebuireng Jombang. The event went smoothly and received great enthusiasm from the workshop participants.
“This workshop can build a network between participants and speakers. It can be an effective means to improve the ability and confidence of participants in writing,” explained Munawara, one of the workshop speakers.
The organizing committee invited several resource persons who were qualified in their respective fields. Among these are Hilmi Faiq as the Kompas Daily Senior Editor, Mahwi Air Freshwater as a writer from Madura, Raedu Basha as the Nusantara Literature Ethnograph, Mukhlisin as Chairman of the JDS Management Board, and Munawara as Tebuireng Media Editor.
Meanwhile, the workshop participants numbered 60 people consisting of students, students, santri, and the general public. Interestingly, there are participants who come from outside the city of Jombang, namely from Mojokerto and Gresik. During the event, they were involved in an active discussion and could work well together with other participants.
The event which lasted for two days received a good response from the caregiver of the Tebuiremg Pesantren, KH. Abdul Hakim Mahfudz. According to him, this activity needs to be developed given the considerable potential in the world of authorship and literacy in pesantren.

Ahmad Gunawan Imani, one of the participants from Hasyim Asy’ari University, said that this event needs to be held again in the future because he got many lessons about effective writing techniques, how to develop ideas, and how to become a better writer.
“I hope that events like this can be held again in the future, because I feel there is still a lot that can be learned and improved. Thank you to the organizer of this event, hopefully can provide great benefits for young writers and journalists,” he explained when interviewed.
Meanwhile, Faiq Arkan, one of the other participants who happened to take part in the Press UKM at Hasyim Asy’ari University, revealed that the material presented was very useful to increase his knowledge in the field of journalism. He claimed to be happy to meet with experienced speakers in the field of journalism.
“I learned a lot about interview techniques, news writing, and short stories. I also have the opportunity to discuss with other participants and share experiences. I hope to apply the knowledge that I get from this workshop in my journalistic work on campus.” he concluded.
This workshop activity aims to improve participants’ writing skills, develop writing talents, and increase knowledge about journalism. This workshop can also help participants increase their creativity in writing, both in terms of writing fiction and non-fiction.
